Department of Translation and Interpretation; It aims to train qualified and well-equipped translators who are specialized in Turkish and English languages and cultures, have advanced knowledge of at least one foreign language other than English, can provide intercultural communication at an expert level, and can work in the national and international translation sector.

The Department of Translation and Interpretation is a professional written and authoritative department that has learned to conduct research, adopts lifelong learning as its motto, researches/learns current issues, is informed about the conditions that are constantly updated in line with the expectations of the sector and technological accelerations, uses technology in the best way, and works in line with the ethical values of the translation profession. / trains interpreters.

Bahçeşehir University Department of Translation and Interpretation will respond to the increasing need for translation, considering the international relations of the country, and will train translators who can work in government institutions, localization sector, press and media organizations, companies related to trade and tourism, law offices and international conferences.

In the Department of Translation and Interpretation, theoretical and practical courses are given for students to improve their translation skills. In addition to translation courses, students take courses such as political science, economy, literature, and history to improve their terminological knowledge and field knowledge so that they can translate in these fields. Written and oral translation courses are taken jointly in the first three years. At the end of the third year, the verbal and written translation fields are separated from each other with the oral translation aptitude test. Students selected for the oral module are subjected to a training that will enable them to specialize in the field of interpreting. In both modules, it is aimed to combine students' theoretical knowledge with practice. Activities and student projects aiming to bring students and the industry together are aimed at helping students become familiar with the real world of translation.

Career Opportunities

Graduates of the Department of Translation and Interpretation can work as intercultural communication specialists in government institutions and ministries, translation companies, media institutions, law offices, tourism agencies, banks, schools, hospitals and NGOs. Graduates can work as subtitle translators, literary critics and conference translators in line with their fields of expertise.
