Abstract

Size effects in a-Si:H a-SiNx:H (x = 1, 13) superlattices have been studied by photothermal deflection spectroscopy and infrared luminescence measurements. It is found that despite of the explanation of the changes in the band gap by a one dimensional quantum well model, the variations in the optical parameters may instead be due to the nitrogen contamination of the confined a-Si:H layer.
