Özet
Objective: This case-control study was undertaken to evaluate the styles of anger expression, alexithymia levels, depression and the frequency of personality disorders in persons with an application for a gun license (GL) (N=92). The control group was selected from peoples who applicate for certificate of health in order to take an employment (N=60). Material and Method: The groups were evaluated by using the Toronto Alexithymia Scale, State-Trait Anger Expression Inventroy, Beck Depression Inventory and Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-III-R Axis II Personality Disorders. Results: The trait anger score and anger-out scores were higher in GL group compared to control group (p<0.05). Anger-in score was statistically similar in both groups. On the other hand anger control scores was higher in control group than GL group (p<0.05). The Beck Depression Inventory score was statistically similar in both groups. The control group members had higher alexithymia scores than GL group (p<0.05). The GL group members also had significantly more Axis II disorders than those in the control group The GL group demonstrated higher rates of Cluster A and C personality disorders compared to control group (p<0.05). Conclusion: Because of the higher anger scores and higher personality disorders in SR group, detailed psychiatric examination and psychometric assessment should be done.
